Lecanopteris pustulata - Hounds Tongue, Paraharaha (was Zealandia pustulata)
The glossy sheen of this fern and its broad, fleshy, distinctive variable leathery glossy bright green fronds with conspicuous veins, add a tropical element to the New Zealand bush. It has thick fleshy rhizomes with large appressed scales. The delicate young frond is a very pale translucent green and slowly darkens to form the adult pinnae . Slow spreading. Can grow on the ground and climbs over rocks, logs and up trees (as in the main picture climbing a nikau).
