Libertia peregrinans - New Zealand Iris, Mikoikoi
A rhizome spreading plant that is now quite rare in the wild. It grows in open, poorly draining ground under scrub or on coastal dunes and cliffs. Plants consisting of leafy fans crowded or emerging at intervals from far-spreading horizontal stolons, c. 3 mm diameter, distinctive yellow colour in the sun. More green in the shade. Hardy.
Provides a nice colour and texture contrast to ferns. Main photo is a single plant amongst ferns in our display area at Waipu.
